The approach is opinionated and narrow: we focus on gear that matters for planted tanks, and we compare products against specific tank setups (size, planting density, livestock) rather than ranking them in the abstract.

How we pick

Picks draw on published specifications, hobbyist community consensus from forums like r/PlantedTank and the Barr Report, long-run reputation across brands, and product fit against the specific use case described on each page. We do not receive products for review and we are not sponsored.

Limitations
